It began with three guys with the idea to create Australia’s largest digital education provider. In 2000, Learning Seat was born and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Beginning
In 2000, three guys had an idea for a scalable yet simple central system for online training and compliance management. Tinkering from the CEO’s garage worked for a bit, until it became obvious that the city was beckoning. So off to Little Collins St in the city and the birth of Learning Seat.
Finding our feet
Some six years and 100,000 users later in early 2007, we moved into our Collins St office. We got busy up north too as we set up our Sydney office.
Ok, here we go
Exciting times continued for 2007! We were acquired by News Limited, only one of the world’s largest media conglomerates; and we were growing at such a rapid rate, we were running out of space, so we moved again, this time to Bourke St.

Now with over 700,000 users and an office overlooking Melbourne’s sporting mecca, the MCG, we are Australia’s trusted advisors in eLearning, and backed by a consortium of investors including The Riverside Company and The Wingate Group.

Our CEO
Tim Legge joined Learning Seat in 2008 as Director of Strategic Partnership and Alliances.
As Director of Strategic Partnership and Alliances, Mr Legge was successful in securing clients such as Origin Energy, The Exego Group (Repco), Healthscope, Flight Centre, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and Connect East. In 2010, Mr Legge was elevated to general manager of the company responsible for the day-to-day management of Learning Seat and is instrumental in driving best practice industry standards in the space of compliance, professional development and accredited training.
After leading Learning Seat to record growth, Tim was promoted to chief executive of the company in 2011.
Prior to his role at Learning Seat, Mr. Legge was VIC state manager at FleetPartners where he led the Victorian sales team through a transition period and grew sales profit through his ability to articulate strategies and implement effective solutions to business problems. Tim holds degrees in Science and Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
