In 2012, Learning Seat was acquired by a consortium of investors including The Wingate Group and The Riverside Company, with a view to provide every customer an exceptional experience, and deliver innovative, cutting edge e-learning solutions for staff development and compliance training.

The Wingate Group is a private investment and advisory firm focused on private equity, specialised finance and property, while The Riverside Company is one of the world’s largest private equity firms focusing on small enterprises, with experience in the e-learning space.

Simon Hann is a business leader with a track record of success in developing, implementing and managing business strategies to achieve performance objectives. Simon lists his major achievement as the start up, development, sale and significant sustained growth of a technology/training solutions business (eLearning) to an ASX listed company. Simon is currently the CEO of Deakin Prime, the corporate education arm of Deakin University as well as the President of the eLearning Industry Association.

Stuart baxter, riverside asia pacific ceo

Stuart Baxter joined Riverside in 1997 and led the launch of the Riverside Europe Fund family (REF). During his three years with REF, Mr. Baxter supervised all negotiations, legal due diligence and post-acquisition advisory and restructuring work for the fund. In 2000, Mr. Baxter transitioned to head Riverside’s San Francisco office as a Managing Partner of Riverside Capital Appreciation Fund. Prior to joining Riverside in 1997, he was Director of Crimson Capital’s Czech Restructuring and Privatization Group for two years. Prior to that, Mr. Baxter was President of AI International Corporation, the U.S.-based holding company for a high-net-worth Kuwaiti family. He spent 12 years at AI International Corporation, managing various operating businesses, venture capital and real estate portfolios and executing over 30 acquisitions. Mr. Baxter began his career in investment banking in 1980 as an analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. He holds a BA in economics from Stanford University.

Farrel meltzer, chairman wingate group

Farrel is Chairman and Group Managing Director of the Wingate Group, a private investment and advisory firm focused on capital solutions, property and asset management. Farrel founded the Wingate Group in 2003 after a highly successful career as an investment banker, including Head of ANZ Private Bank and Group Managing Director of Investec Bank (Australia) Ltd. Recognised as one of Australia’s outstanding specialised financial service innovators and business builders, Farrel’s experience spans funds management, private equity, debt, structured investments, corporate advice, capital markets, securitisation and funding for large privately owned businesses. Farrel is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting (Cum Laude) and an Advanced Diploma of Banking (Cum Laude).

Phillip prendergast, pjp group

Phillip has 29 years of experience in the B2B market. He has built and operated a number of successful businesses over that period, one of which was recently acquired by a major global corporation. Phillip has a sales and marketing background and has completed a number of executive education programs at Harvard Business School. He currently runs a private investment company.
