Christmas is fast approaching, and my first reaction is “Where did the year go?” When I look back on the year I reflect on some sobering things, some great achievements and a positive note for the future.
2017 was marked by many significant global events, but two things stand out in my mind. Instances and reports of workplace sexual harassment seemed to spike during the year, with a number of high-profile cases in the US media industry. Australia seemed to follow suit, as stories of poor culture were exposed in our banking and finance sector. Surely in 2017 we know the difference between right and wrong. Workplace culture is increasingly under the microscope, yet I’m dumbfounded by instances where workplaces tolerate the inappropriate behaviour of individuals and groups.
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse also recently handed down its final report. Throughout the hearings we heard the stories of vulnerable children entrusted to people whose workplaces cultures tolerated abuse and, in some cases, violent acts. We must learn from this.
This brings into the spotlight the critical need to address inappropriate workplace behaviour through training and other interventions. I’m proud that Learning Seat continues to do this through innovative and effective workplace solutions. This year, we launched courses on unconscious bias, ethics and IT security to address organisational risk and make workplaces safer for everybody. Our Adaptive Suite – which delivers core compliance training more efficiently and with a reduced seat time – is a game changer for our market.
In 2017 we also acquired 76 new customers in the Learning Seat family – large, small and from many backgrounds and industries. All our customers chose Learning Seat because of our outstanding solutions, expertise and the value for money we offer. During the last year we achieved our success through our fantastic partners and the amazing team that works here. I thank you all for the contribution you’ve made and look forward to working with you in 2018.
Finally, Learning Seat ended the year with the fantastic news that we’ve been acquired by CallidusCloud, and will operate as the Litmos Asia Pacific operation. We look forward to 2018 with the best Learning Management System, the best content library and the best compliance solution in the Australian market. 2018 will be an exciting year for us, and we’re aiming to shake the Australian elearning market with new products and innovations.
So, we anticipate an exciting year ahead, and really hope that yours is as well. To our customers, partners, friends and colleagues, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
