Meet one of the newest additions at Learning Seat – Legal Counsel Lindsay EvansSo, Lindsay, what’s your background and what led you to join the team at Learning Seat?
I’m originally from the United Kingdom, where I trained and then worked as an employment lawyer for four years. In 2011, I moved to Australia and started work as an employment lawyer at Lander & Rogers. It was here that I first met the Learning Seat team while working as a legal advisor on The S.A.F.E. Files. I’m really excited by the opportunity to join Learning Seat in the capacity of Legal Counsel.
And how will your role fit within the organisation?
I’m looking forward to working with the Learning Seat team and our clients to ensure that the compliance training we produce is meeting and exceeding the expectations of clients, and is responding to the specific needs of their business. For me personally, it’s great to be able to combine my commercial legal skills and compliance knowledge with the more creative, product development aspect of workplace compliance.
And what’s your view on how we can better meet our clients’ needs?
I think that organisations are now recognising the critical role that compliance, across a broad range of disciplines, plays in its business and the cultural changes that effective compliance training inherently brings to the workplace.
Having acted as a lawyer for companies in workplace disputes for almost seven years, I can certainly testify to the benefits of compliance training in both preventing disputes and protecting businesses if things do go wrong.
And outside of work, what are your interests?
When I’m not at work, I enjoy long distance running, yoga, music, foreign films, and good food and wine (though not necessarily in that order!).
As Learning Seat’s legal counsel, Lindsay will be responsible for ensuring that our online compliance solutions continue to recognise and meet client needs from both a legal and a commercial perspective.
